LiteWave is a fast and unefficient lossless compressor - it is developed for inclusion in AVI files as audio stream, and in this case it's better if most of the processing power is left for the video codec (when doing real-time capture).

Also, it includes lots of ancilliary data used to avoid loss of synchrony. That's another reason for the bad performance.

A lossy mode is also featured

There is a freeware command line encoder available for free, and an ACM codec can be bought at the home page
