The audio player Foobar2000 is the brainchild of Peter Pawlowski, who rose to fame when he became an official Winamp plugin developer.

After leaving Nullsoft, Peter decided to create a new audio player from scratch, fixing several of the structural errors in Winamp and adding several features while at it.

This player is developed with the audiophile community in mind, therefore it has several features much sought-after by that target audience (ReplayGain, gapless playback, high quality dithering and resampling), and makes no compromises to reach best playback quality.

That development mindset reflects in the spartan interface, backed by a powerful and very stable core, and a very flexible SDK that allows for feature extensions through the use of add-on components.
